Tai Chi Chuan is a “soft style” martial art that is characterized by a series of slow, graceful movements done in a highly conscious way so that the practitioner may feel their physical, energetic, mental and spiritual qualities being brought into a state of harmony. Among the martial arts there are two basic types; the hard styles also known as external and the soft styles known as internal. Examples of the hard style martial arts are Karate and Kung Fu. Examples of the soft style martial arts are Hsing I, Bagua and Tai Chi Chuan.
Tai Chi emphasizes proper
body mechanics and structure to enhance relaxation.
It is a form of
meditation or what has been called “moving
meditation.” Unlike the hard style martial
arts Tai Chi is characterized by soft, slow, flowing
movements that emphasize internal energy rather than
brute strength. Here at Quest we practice Master
William C. C. Chen’s Yang Style Short Form.
In addition we train in various forms of Qi gong,
Push Hands, Pressure Point application of the
movements for Self Defense and Tai Chi Sword.

To quote Dr. Paul Lam a physician and Tai Chi teacher:
Anonymous quote:
“ Scientific studies have shown that Tai Chi practice works magic on health, improving conditions such as arthritis, heart disease, diabetes, respiratory diseases, and other chronic illnesses. In addition, it improves balance, helps prevents falls, improves posture and builds up immunity to disease. And if that’s not all, Tai Chi practice improves mental illness, depression and stress.”
“The ultimate purpose of learning Tai Chi is to live forever in the spring season of your life.”
